UNEA-6 has established new benchmarks for environmental governance. They address all the concerning environmental problems: how to mine metals to save the environment, reduce pollution from chemicals, stop desertification, clean the air, protect oceans and rivers, and assure that even during wars, the environment will be safe. Similar resolutions are the first steps to make new laws and policies throughout the world.

That means that each Kenyan uses three fully grown 10-15-year-old trees every year, in various ways that include charcoal and furniture. Cumulatively, Kenyans cut and use at least 150 million trees every year.
